Walk Like Christ
Did you know that if you call yourself a Christian that you ought to try your best to walk as Christ walked on this earth? Consider these two verses:
(1 John 2:6) "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."(1 Peter 2:21) "For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:"
Although it will be impossible to fully walk like Christ did, as we are imperfect; it is the mark you should shoot for. So how do we walk like Christ?
How Do We Walk Like Christ?
The next two verses tell us how to walk like Christ:
(1 Peter 2:22-23) "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: {23} Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:"
If you are walking like Christ walked then that means you are trying to do the following things:
You are trying to avoid sinning. Some questions you may want to ask yourself:
Would Jesus get drunk?
Would Jesus lie?
Would Jesus cheat on his wife?
Would Jesus watch movies with profanity and his name taken in vain?
Would Jesus watch porn?
The answer to all of these questions is, "NO." You have some work to do.
2. You never have guile in your mouth. This means that Jesus was never trying to deceive anyone. Some questions you may want to ask yourself:
Do you manipulate people into getting what you want?
Do you lie?
Do you tell half truths?
Are you two-faced?
If the answer to any of these questions is, "Yes," then you have some work to do.
3. You avoid calling people nasty names. Some questions you may want to ask yourself:
When someone calls me a nasty name, Do I call them a name back?
When someone insults me, Do I insult them back?
If the answer to these two questions is, "Yes," then you have some work to do.
4. You never threaten people. A question you may want to ask yourself:
When someone threatens you, Do you threaten them back?
If the answer to this question is, "Yes," then you have some work to do.
Conclusion
If you are a Christian you ought to do your very best to walk like Christ did while he was on this earth. He is the standard we should aspire to live up to. Although, I know it is impossible to fully walk like he did, we should still strive for that. If we strive for that, we will be letting the Holy Spirit work inside of us, and he will constantly improve us.
If you are not a Christian yet, I have some good news for you:
How To Get Saved
If you are not saved yet by Jesus Christ for all of eternity, God wants you to know that you can be. It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done. God loves us so much he gave his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins on the cross even though we don't even deserve it. He was then buried for 3 days, and then gloriously resurrected 3 days later.
This is what the Bible says about how you can be saved:
(Acts 16:30-31) "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? {31} And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
